On the morning of May 25, 2012, employees at a used car dealership on McLoughlin Boulevard in Gladstone discovered that a 2004 Jeep Wrangler had been stolen during the previous night.  The employees contacted the Gladstone Police Department to report the crime. After verifying the theft, Gladstone officers had the Wrangler’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, an officer with the Portland Police Bureau received the Jeep’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his police vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues on the LoJack Tracker, the officer quickly located the vehicle in the 3200 block of SE 92nd Street, where it was found abandoned. There was no visible damage to the vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in August of 2008 in Colorado. The dealer in Gladstone did not know that the car was equipped with LoJack.
