LoJack System Helps Cleveland Police Recover Stolen Chevrolet Trail Blazer Taken In Car Jacking

The owners of a 2006 Chevrolet Trail Blazer contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. Unknown armed suspects approached the victims and ordered them to hand over property and keys to their vehicle. The suspects then sped off. Cleveland Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.
A short while later officers from the Cleveland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the Slavic Village neighborhood. The stolen Chevrolet was hidden in the rear of a residence and the license plates had been removed to further elude law enforcement.
Information was obtained from the persons living at the address on who had left the stolen Chevrolet at their home. Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes. The stolen Chevrolet was impounded for processing. This matter is to be further investigated by the Cleveland Police 4th District Detective Bureau.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Trail Blazer in July 2006 at Multi Chevrolet, Union, NJ.
