LoJack System Helps Aurora Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry

The owner of a 1996 Toyota Camry contacted the Aurora Police Department to report that his vehicle was missing from his driveway in the 800 block of E New York Ave in Aurora. The Aurora PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.
Shortly after the Toyota Camry was activated a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Toyota. Following the signal the Toyota was tracked to the parking lot of a motel on the 4200 block of Longmeadow Drive in Aurora. The Aurora PD arrived on scene and recovered the stolen Toyota which was parked and unoccupied. The owner was notified and arrived on scene to recover his Toyota. The Aurora PD contacted the motel to peruse their security footage in hopes of identifying the offender(s) in this case. Police investigation continues.
The owner of this 1996 Toyota Camry was very grateful for his vehicle’s recovery stating it was his only means to get to work. The owner had his Toyota recovered due to a LoJack® System installed over 21 years earlier which still worked perfectly. The Toyota was recovered before it could be damaged, stripped, or used in a crime.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in September 1996 at Toyota North in Brunswick, New Jersey.
