The owner of a 2010 Ford F150 contacted the Hays County Sheriff’s Office to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner’s grandson is a known car thief. The grandson came over to the owner’s house and took his Ford pickup without his permission.

The Hays County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford pickup.

Later, a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the trooper tracked the stolen Ford pickup to a parking lot in the 300 block of E Highland Mall Blvd. The stolen Ford pickup was parked with the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat. The suspect was detained and arrested. This Ford was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F150 in February 2016 at Leif Johnson Superstore in Austin, Texas.
