Miami-Dade Police Recover Bobcat Loader Stolen from Construction Site

On Thursday morning, May 10, 2012, the operator of a 2009 Bobcat skid steer loader discovered the equipment missing from their job site; the loader’s owner quickly contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report the theft. After verifying the theft, Miami-Dade officers had the loader’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the equipment.

A short time later, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer received the Bobcat’s silent LoJack signal on his patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. The officer, along with backup, quickly located the equipment in a fenced, locked yard near S.W. 296th Street and 173rd Avenue. The detectives on the scene interviewed the person that had access to the yard, and after believing that they had enough probable cause, arrested the individual.

The equipment was recovered and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Bobcat skid steer loader in August 2010, and has been protecting it ever since.
