On Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012, the owner of a 2000 Honda Civic coupe contacted the Coral Springs Police Department to report the coupe stolen. After verifying the theft, Coral Springs officers had the Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, a deputy with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office began to pick up the Honda’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in his patrol car. Following the directional and audible cues on the LoJack Tracker, the deputy – along with units from the Florida Highway Patrol and Fort Lauderdale Police Departments – followed the signal to an apartment complex on N.W. 26th Street in Lauderhill.

The Honda was recovered and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.  The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic in June 2000.
