The owner of a 2000 Dodge Dakota contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 4100 Duane Avenue in Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 9th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Dodge Dakota. When the officer was unable to locate the Dodge a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Dakota.

A short while later, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to the area of 6th Street and Disney Avenue in the Brooklyn Park area of Anne Arundel County. At this location officers observed the Dodge parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Dodge was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2000 Dodge Dakota in May 2000 at Antwerpen Dodge in Columbia, Maryland.
