LoJack System Helps Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Recover a Stolen Toyota Avalon

The owners of a used car dealership in Portland discovered one of their used vehicles was missing from the lot. After checking all possible locations for the Toyota Avalon it was reported to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Just thirteen minutes later, the Multnomah County SO deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Toyota to an apartment complex located in the 22700 block of NE Halsey Street in Fairview. They then observed a male suspect behind the wheel of the Toyota and placed him under arrest. He was advised of his rights, interviewed and booked into jail on multiple charges. The car dealership in Portland was not aware it was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Avalon in September 2008 at Toyota of Tacoma in Washington.
