On the afternoon of May 19, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Mercedes Benz GL-550 SUV contacted the Prince Georges County Police Department reported the vehicle stolen from Coventry Way. Prince Georges officers verified the theft and had the Mercedes’ information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the Prince Georges County Police Department received the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Tracker, the officers tracked the vehicle to Vine Street in the Capitol Heights section of the county. There, the officers located the vehicle, parked and abandoned. The undamaged vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Mercedes Benz GL-550 at the new car buyer’s request in October, 2007.
