The owner of a 2016 Nissan Rogue contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen after it was left unattended with the keys in the ignition and engine running from the 3100 block W North Avenue in the Walbrook Junction area of Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from District 8 to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Nissan Rogue. When the officer was unable to locate the Nissan a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Rogue.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan Rogue with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to the area of 3400 Auchentoroley Terrace in Baltimore City. At this location, officers observed the Nissan parked and unoccupied. Surveillance on the Nissan failed to identify a suspect and the vehicle was recovered and towed for safe keeping and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Nissan Rogue in March 2016 at Nationwide Nissan in Lutherville, Maryland.
