LoJack System Helps Cleveland Police Department Recover Stolen Audi A7 Quattro

The owner of a 2007 Audi A7 contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner had just parked his Audi and was talking to the passenger when three unknown males armed with handguns approached them. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the owner and said “you know what this is…give me everything you got.” The victim complied and was even told to remove all of his clothes. The owner then fled on foot at which time the suspects shot at him three times. The passenger of the Audi had begged for mercy. While the suspects were going through the owner’s property, the passenger fled on foot. The owner flagged down a police car on routine patrol and advised them that he was just carjacked.
The Cleveland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Audi.
A short while later officers from the University Circle Police Department and Cleveland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Audi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Audi to a residential area of Cleveland. It appeared that the suspects had parked it there to “cool off.”
The stolen Audi had no damage. The Audi was impounded for processing and later returned to the owner. This matter is to be further investigated by the Cleveland PD Fifth District Detective Bureau.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Audi A7 Quattro in August 2006 at Braman Audi in West Palm Beach, Florida.
