The owner of a 2004 Toyota Sienna contacted the Tempe Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen with the keys by an acquaintance.  The owner left the Toyota running with the suspect sitting in the vehicle while the owner went into a store.  When the owner came out, the Toyota was gone.

The Tempe PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Six minutes later, the air unit and officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air unit and officers tracked the Toyota to the area of 24th Street and University Avenue in Phoenix.

Officers located the stolen Toyota occupied and took the suspect into custody without incident.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the theft of the Toyota.  The Toyota was recovered in good condition and returned the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Sienna in November 2003 at Toyota Central in Los Angeles, California.
