LoJack System Helps Metro Nashville Police Department Recover a Stolen 2007 International Dump Truck

The owners of a 2007 International dump truck contacted the Metro Nashville Police Department to report that their vehicle along with a trailer and mini excavator were stolen from their place of business.
The Metro Nashville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the International dump truck.
A short while later a Metro Nashville PD officer while on routine patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen International dump truck with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. While in the process of tracking the dump truck, the officer was joined by other PTC equipped Metro Nashville PD vehicles including one from the Auto Theft Division. A helicopter from the Metro Nashville Aviation Division also joined in the search. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they were able to track the International dump truck to a wooded area in a residential area of Nashville.
The International dump truck was located in a wooded area near a camping trailer which was being occupied as a residence. The International was found concealed in a wooded area behind the camping trailer. At the time of the recovery the trailer used to transport the Excavator was still attached. The Yamaha Mini Excavator had been unloaded and was located on the same property.
The officers went into the camping trailer to retrieve the ignition system from the dump truck. At that time they observed a handgun on a table which was identified as being entered as stolen by the Metro Nashville PD.
One suspect was arrested and during questioning he admitted to being involved in the theft of a boat and trailer from Mississippi. He directed the officers to a residence in Sumner County, Tennessee, where the boat could be located. When officers from that jurisdiction went to that residence they recovered the boat and trailer. In addition they observed a Generac Generator which was identified as stolen from the Robertson County, Tennessee.
