LoJack® System Helps Michigan State Police Recover Stolen Nissan Altima

The owners of a 2006 Nissan Altima contacted the Detroit Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence in Detroit.

The Detroit PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later troopers from the Michigan State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Nissan to residential area of Detroit.  It appeared that the suspects had parked the Nissan to “cool off.”

Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Nissan was impounded and later returned to the owner.
