The owner of a 2003 BMW 325i contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their home in the Unit block Brubar Court in Pikesville. The Baltimore County PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 4th district to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the BMW. When the officer was unable to locate the BMW a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW. Investigation on scene by officers determined that the BMW was stolen after it was left unattended with a key inside the console.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the area of 5200 Fairlawn Avenue in the Pimlico area of Baltimore City. At this location, the officers observed the BMW parked and unoccupied. The undamaged BMW was then recovered and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2003 BMW 325i in September 2003 at Russel BMW in Owings Mills, Maryland.
