The foreman of a construction site contacted the Surprise Police Department to report that a 2011 John Deere 210LJ Skip Loader was stolen from the jobsite sometime over the weekend.

The Surprise PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the John Deere.

Twenty-five minutes later, deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen John Deere with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the construction equipment to a rural area off the US 60 and Happy Valley Road.

The stolen John Deere Skip Loader was found unoccupied in a dirt lot a few miles from where it had been stolen from.  The Surprise PD detective responded to the scene and processed the equipment for evidence.  The John Deere was recovered in good condition and released to the construction company.

The LoJack® System was installed in the John Deere Skip Loader in April 2011 by Commercial Sales.
