A resident of the southwest section of Philadelphia arrived home recently to discover that person(s) unknown had entered the premises and removed personal items that included US currency, clothing, watches, electronic equipment as well as a safe that contained gold jewelry and personal papers. The owner of the premises then discovered that the perpetrator(s) had also stolen his 2011 Infiniti QX56. The property owner called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched officers to the scene to investigate. The officers quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant, a detective was assigned to the burglary and the scene was processed for physical evidence. Police estimated that approximately $70,000 worth of personal property was taken in the burglary.

During the course of the interview with the complainant, the assigned detective was informed that the stolen Infiniti was equipped with LoJack. The detective entered the stolen vehicle information into the city, state and federal crime computers thus triggering a LoJack activation. Several minutes later, the Philadelphia PD 12th District police officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of 7000 Passyunk Avenue. The officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Infiniti and approached same with caution. The officers positively identified the stolen vehicle and determined that same was unoccupied. Since the stolen vehicle message was noted guard for prints, the officers notified the Philadelphia PD Radio of the situation and a police tow truck was dispatched to the scene. The Infiniti was confiscated as evidence and taken to Philadelphia PD Tow Squad HQ where the vehicle will be processed for latent fingerprints and physical evidence.

This incident remains under investigation by the Philadelphia PD Southwest Detective Division.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Infiniti QX56 in August 2010 at Infiniti of Ardmore in Pennsylvania.
