The owner of a 2008 Harley Davidson FLH contacted the Bakersfield Police Department to report that his motorcycle was stolen by unknown suspects.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Harley Davidson.

A short while later, deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Adelanto Station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Harley Davidson with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the motorcycle to the 10000 block of Chesterfield where they located it in a garage at a private residence.  The deputies made contact with an occupant and learned that the husband had traded a vehicle for it.  As the deputies were talking, the suspect drove by the location and upon seeing the deputies did not stop.  The deputies drove after the suspect and affected a felony traffic stop taking him into custody without further incident.  The suspect was later booked for receiving stolen property. The undamaged Harley Davidson was stored for safe keeping and later returned to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Harley Davidson in December 2007 at Victorville Harley Davidson in California.
