LoJack® System Helps Cleveland Police Department Recover Stolen Jeep Wrangler

The owners of a Jeep Wrangler contacted the Willoughby Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.
The Willoughby PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.
A short while later several agencies in the Cleveland Metro area picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers from both Cleveland Police Department and Warrensville Heights Police Department tracked the Jeep to a remote residential street on the border of Cleveland and Warrensville Heights.
The suspects were in the process of removing the tires off of the stolen Jeep but because of the quick recovery there was only minor damage and the suspects were unable to use it to commit additional crimes. The stolen Jeep was impounded for processing. This matter is to be further investigated by the Willoughby PD.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in July 2004 at David O’Neal Chrysler Jeep Suzuki in Raleigh, North Carolina.
