The owners of a 2001 Acura TL contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle had just been taken in a carjacking by a male subject armed with a handgun. The owner was flagged down and asked for directions when the subject pointed a handgun and demanded his Acura. The owner complied, called 911 and reported his Acura stolen.

The Harris County SD deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

A short while later the State Police helicopter unit 102 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air crew tracked the Acura to the Northbend Apartments at Cornerstone Village drive.  The Harris County SD deputies were directed to the location and recovered the Acura. The Acura was towed to the police impound for processing. Thanks to the quick recovery no damage was noted to the Acura.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura TL in March 2001 at Gillman Acura in Houston, Texas.
