Toyota Camry Stolen and Recovered in Minutes by Baltimore City Officers

On the early morning of April 2, 2012, the owner of a 2011 Toyota Camry reported to the Baltimore City Police Department that the vehicle had been stolen from the 100 block of Lyndhurst Street. The responding officer obtained all the vehicle information, completed a stolen vehicle report, and had the information entered into the Maryland and national crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team received the Toyota’s silent LoJack homing signal with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their vehicles. The directional and audible LoJack signal led officers to an area of the 2600 block of Aisquith Street. There, the detectives located the vehicle, parked and unoccupied. The detectives recovered the Toyota and notified the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Camry at the new car buyer’s request in March, 2011.
