Baltimore City Police Helicopter Locates Stolen Kawasaki Motorcycle at Vacant House

Just before noon on April 4, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report the bike stolen from the 4600 block of Eastern Avenue in Baltimore City, MD.
A Baltimore City officer responded to the scene and after conducting a preliminary investigation, completed a vehicle theft report. The officer had this information entered into the Maryland Meters system and national NCIC stolen vehicle databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Kawasaki. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, flight officers assigned to the Baltimore City Aviation Unit received the Kawasaki’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. The directional and audible LoJack signal led officers to the 2500 block of Linden Avenue in the western area of Baltimore City, Maryland. Detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team responded to the area and quickly located the stolen motorcycle in the rear yard of a vacant house. The motorcycle was recovered and the owner notified.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this vehicle at the vehicle buyer’s request in January, 2007.
