The owners of a 2009 Volkswagen Passat contacted the Rosenberg Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway sometimes during the previous night.

The Rosenberg PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the VW Passat.

A short while later a Houston Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen VW Passat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Passat to the dead end of 2900 Briarwick in Houston. The Passat was parked and occupied by two male subjects. Officers approached the Passat and made an arrest of both suspects without incident. When officers inventoried the Passat they found a baggy of powered cocaine. Both subjects were arrested for felony theft and possession of a controlled substance. The Passat was stored pending owner notification. The Passat was in good condition with only minor entry and ignition damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Passat in June 2009 at Momentum Volkswagen in Houston, Texas.
