The owners of a 2012 BMW X5 contacted the Atlanta Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in downtown Atlanta while they were shopping.

The Atlanta PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later officers from the Atlanta PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to an apartment complex in another area of Atlanta where it was found abandoned and in good condition.

An Atlanta PD detective was called to the scene for possible arrest.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 BMW X5 in October 2011 at United BMW Gwinnett in Duluth, Georgia.
