The owners of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their driveway. The owner left the Toyota parked in the driveway while he ran inside, leaving the keys in the ignition. When he returned the pickup was missing.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Tacoma pickup.

A short while later deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to 12300 Wild Pine where they located it locked, parked and abandoned in a large apartment complex parking lot. The keys were not in the ignition at the time of recovery. The Toyota was listed in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma pickup in January 2009 at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, Texas.
