LoJack® System Helps Houston Police Department Recover Stolen 2006 Infiniti Q56

The manager of a used car lot contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report a customer came into his business and wanted to test drive the Infiniti SUV. The manager stated after he gathered information from the customer, including a photo copy of his Texas Driver’s License, he allowed him to test drive the Infiniti. After several hours passed and the customer never made an attempt to return the Infiniti he filed a theft report with the Harris County SD.
The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.
A short while later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Infiniti to the 4200 block of Barberry Drive. The Infiniti was not occupied but the engine was still running. Officers set up surveillance and shortly after two subjects entered the Infiniti and attempted to drive away. Officers blocked the Infiniti with their patrol vehicle and conducted a felony arrest of the driver and passenger. The driver was the same person as the customer that asked to test drive the Infiniti. The driver was later found to be wanted for felony parole violation. He was transported to criminal detention center for processing. The passenger was charged with criminal trespass and also transported to the criminal detention center for processing.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Infiniti SUV in February 2006 at Southwest Infiniti in Houston, Texas.
