LoJack® System Helps Baltimore County Police Department Recover Stolen Hyundai Genesis

The owner of a 2013 Hyundai Genesis contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their home in the 200 block Middleway Road in the Essex area of Baltimore County, Maryland. The Baltimore County PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 11th Precinct to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Hyundai. When the officer was unable to locate the Hyundai, a stolen vehicle report was prepared. Investigation by the officer on scene determined that the owner had left the key to the Hyundai inside and in view. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai Genesis.
A short while later officers from the Baltimore County PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Hyundai to the 3500 block Englemeade Road in the Pikesville area of Baltimore County, Maryland. At that location, officers observed the Hyundai parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Hyundai was recovered by the officers and the owner notified.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2013 Hyundai Genesis in February 2013 at Hall Hyundai of Chesapeake in Virginia.
