Ingersoll Rand Skid Steer Loader Stolen from Construction Site in CO, Found Same Day, Suspect Arrested

On April 13, 2012, the owners of a construction company discovered that their storage lot had been broken into during the previous night and a 2002 Ingersoll Rand skid steer loader and trailer were stolen. The owners contacted the Broomfield Police Department to report the theft.
Broomfield officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the skid steer’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed inside the stolen equipment. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to take any further action to activate the LoJack network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Later that day, officers with the Longmont Police Department picked up the silent homing signals coming from the stolen loader on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol cars. Following the directional cues on the tracking computer, the officers located the stolen equipment in Longmont. The Longmont Police Department and Investigators with both the Colorado State Patrol and the Northern Colorado Auto Theft Task Force took over the investigation. One suspect was arrested, and the stolen equipment recovered.
This is the second time that this skid steer loader has been stolen and in both incidents LoJack led the police to the equipment and aided them in making an arrest. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the loader in 2002 in Broomfield, CO.
