LoJack® System Helps New York Police Department Recover a Stolen 2007 Mercedes S550

The owner of the Mercedes parked his vehicle by his house where he normally parks it. When he came out for it the next morning he found it missing. This was in the confines of Stafford County, Virginia. He immediately called the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department.
When the deputies arrived, they took a written report for the stolen Mercedes. This information was then entered by the Stafford County SD into the city, state, and federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Mercedes.
Eventually the silent signal was picked up on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) by members of the New York Police Department Bronx Auto Larceny Unit. This was in the South Bronx section of the Bronx, confines of the 40th precinct. The Mercedes was tracked to a residential section and located parked. The officers decided to stake the Mercedes out. After several hours when no one showed up for the Mercedes the officers took it into custody. The Mercedes was recovered in good condition with no damage.
The Stafford County SD was contacted and they were in the process of notifying the owner in their jurisdiction. The Stafford County SD was grateful to the NYPD for the quick recovery. At this time point in time the NYPD is investigating who was operating the Mercedes when it arrived in New York, with an arrest to follow.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Mercedes S550 in February 2007 at Fletcher Jones Mercedes in Las Vegas, Nevada.
