The owner of a 2003 Land Rover Freelander contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

Within four minutes of the stolen vehicle entry, officers with the Las Vegas Metro PD and troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Land Rover and determined it was mobile. The Land Rover was located, found abandoned and was recovered with no obvious signs of damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Land Rover Freelander in August 2003 at Land Rover of Alexandria in Virginia.
