The owner of a 2015 Ford Focus contacted the Austin Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in a carjacking. The owner and his girlfriend were walking to their Ford in their apartment parking lot when they were attacked by two suspects.  The owner was hit in the face with a handgun and the suspect took the owner’s car keys and both suspects jumped into the Ford and drove off.  The owner and his girlfriend sustained minor injuries.

The Austin PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Later, officers from the Austin PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Ford to a residential area and found the stolen Ford parked on the street.  The Ford was recovered in good condition.  Officers are reviewing video from the apartment parking lot to see if they can identify the suspects.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Focus in July 2015 at Riata Ford in Austin, Texas.
