The owners of a Toyota Rav 4 contacted the Chester City Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Chester City PD dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the stolen Toyota. When the Toyota could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later an officer from the Chester Township Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of Pennell Street in Chester and observed the Toyota parked at the curb. The officers cautiously approached the Toyota and determined that same was unoccupied. The Toyota was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified regarding the recovery of the apparently undamaged vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Rav 4 in September 1997 at Jerry’s Toyota in Baltimore, Maryland.
