The operator of a 2006 Sullair 185 air compressor discovered their piece of construction equipment was missing when they arrived to work. The operator contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report that their construction equipment was stolen. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the compressor’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Shortly thereafter, while on routine patrol, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen 185 air compressor on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen compressor by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the air compressor in the rear yard of a pawn shop in the 11000 block of N.W. 7th Avenue. Further investigation revealed that a subject had “pawned” the equipment earlier in the day. As the necessary paperwork had not been completed correctly, the officer confiscated the air compressor. The air compressor was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Green Sullair 185 air compressor in June 2006.
