LoJack® System Helps Sparks Police Department Recover Stolen Mazda M6

The owners of a 2005 Mazda M6 contacted the Elko Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim advised the police that their way word son had gotten mad and fled in the Mazda sometime during the night.
The Elko PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.
Later that evening and several hundred miles away, officers from the Carson City Sheriff’s Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers now accompanied by members of the Sparks Police Department tracked the Mazda to the multi-story parking lot of a casino. The officers tracked the Mazda to the second story of the parking structure and located the stolen Mazda parked and abandoned. An area check for the juvenile was negative.
The Mazda was towed and stored for safe keeping to be released to the owner later.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda M6 in June 2006 at Sill Terhar Motors in Broomfield, Colorado.
