The owner of a 2008 Honda Odyssey van contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his driveway in the 11200 block of S Green Ave in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood. The victim had left his Honda running in the driveway as it warmed up. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Six minutes after being reported as stolen, officers from the Chicago PD picked up the audible and directional cues being broadcast from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the stolen Honda was located unoccupied on the 10800 Block of S Beverly. The Honda was recovered undamaged and returned to a grateful owner literally within minutes of being taken from his driveway.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Honda Odyssey in May 2008 at River Oaks Honda of Calumet City, Illinois.
