The owner of a 2003 Infiniti G35 contacted the Anne Arundel County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the driveway of their home in the 1700 block LaSalle Place in the Severn area of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

The Anne Arundel County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.

A short while later, aviation officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department helicopter unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Infiniti to the southbound I-495 beltway in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The Infiniti was approaching the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, leaving Maryland and entering Virginia. The aviation officers continued to follow the stolen Infiniti and notified the Virginia State Police who attempted to stop the vehicle on I-95 in Virginia. The Infiniti refused to stop and continued south bound on the interstate. The Infiniti eluded the troopers and exited the interstate in Fairfax, Virginia, entering a large industrial complex. At this point, the Prince George’s County aviation unit officers landed the aircraft, stopped the Infiniti and detained the theft suspect who was arrested by responding Virginia State Police troopers. The undamaged Infiniti was recovered by the police.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2003 Infiniti G-35 in April 2003 at Nationwide Infiniti in Ellicott City, Maryland.
