LoJack® System Helps Law Enforcement Recover Stolen Yamaha XV1300 motorcycle

The owner of a 2007 Yamaha XV1300 motorcycle contacted the Miami Police Department to report that their motorcycle stolen. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.
Immediately upon activation, while on routine patrol, a Miami PD officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen motorcycle by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. It took quite a while to locate the motorcycle as it was in the Brickell area of Miami, which consists of a great many high-rise office and condominium buildings. Simultaneously, officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department were tracking the motorcycle as well. The Miami-Dade officers located the motorcycle in the parking lot of a construction site where they were building another multi-story building. Since it was a Miami PD case and it was located in Miami PD jurisdiction, the officers had Miami PD respond to continue the investigation and recover the motorcycle. The motorcycle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Yamaha XV1300 motorcycle at North Miami Motorsports, Miami, Florida in October, 2006.
