The owner of a 1997 Nissan Maxima contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The LVMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short time later, officers from the LVMPD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan and located it unoccupied. The Nissan was recovered and released back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Maxima in May 1998 by Oyster Bay Nissan in Syosset, New York.
