LoJack® System Helps Law Enforcement Recover Stolen 2007 Yamaha YZF-R600

The owner of a 2007 Yamaha YZF-R600 last saw their motorcycle at about midnight. When they returned to where they parked later that morning, they discovered it missing. The owner contacted the Daytona Beach Police Department to report that their motorcycle was stolen. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

Later that afternoon while on routine patrol a Miami Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The officer began tracking the stolen motorcycle by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the motorcycle in the 2300 block of N.W. 9th Street, where they were able to arrest a suspect in possession of the motorcycle. The motorcycle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R600 motorcycle in June 2008 by Cycle World of Daytona in Daytona Beach, Florida.
