This Toyota 4-Runner was stolen from the owner’s residence, located in the 3000 block of 60th Avenue SW in Seattle, sometime during a two day period. When the owner returned, he discovered the theft.

The theft was reported to the Seattle Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Just over one hour later a Washington State Patrol Cessna, equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), was flying over South King County and picked up the silent LoJack signal transmitting from the stolen Toyota. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Toyota was located in the area of the 24800 block of 46th Avenue South near Kent. A WSP trooper on the ground, also equipped with a PTC, responded and located the abandoned Toyota.

The current owner purchased the Toyota as a used car and was not aware it was equipped with LoJack.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4-Runner in February of 2000 by Kendal Toyota in Miami, Florida.
