Cadillac Escalade Stolen During Home Burglary Recovered by Aurora Police Using LoJack

When the owners of a 2004 Cadillac Escalade discovered that their home had been burglarized and their vehicle stolen on the afternoon of March 5, they reported the crimes to the Aurora Police Department.
Aurora Police completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Cadillac’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Cadillac. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to take any further action to initiate the police’s tracking of the Cadillac, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, while on routine patrol, officers with the Aurora Police Department received the Cadillac’s silent homing signals on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. Following the visual and audible signals from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Cadillac to South Racine Way. The officers quickly recovered the vehicle and held it for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Escalade at the original owner’s request in Rhode Island eight years ago.
