LoJack® System Helps Michigan Law Enforcement Recover Stolen Caterpillar Track Loader

A foreman for a Michigan construction company found that a 2013 Caterpillar 259B Track Loader had been taken from a jobsite in Northville overnight. The foreman contacted the Northville Police Department to report the theft.
The Northville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Caterpillar.
A short while later pilots with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Caterpillar with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the pilots located the Caterpillar in the rear of a residence in Livonia. Members of the South East Auto Theft Team (SEATT) and other auto theft task forces equipped with LoJack PTC’s responded to the residence.
Surveillance was established on the residence and a search warrant was obtained. Upon executing the search warrant the detectives located the suspects hiding in the residence. Two males were arrested and the stolen Caterpillar was impounded. The owner of the construction company was very happy that they have a LoJack® System installed on all of their equipment.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Caterpillar 259B in July 2015 via Commercial Sales.
