The owner of a 1997 Nissan Maxima contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report her vehicle as stolen. The LVMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Within 35 minutes of the activation, an Officer from the LVMPD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Officer tracked the Nissan to the opposite side of town from where it was originally stolen. The Nissan was found to be parked and abandoned. The Nissan was released back to the owner who stated she did not know her vehicle was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Maxima in March 1998 by Power Nissan of El Monte, California.
