The owners of a 2001 Honda Civic contacted the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim discovered the Honda missing when they came out from a shopping mall and the vehicle was gone.

The Santa Clara SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Less than 15 minutes later officers from the RATTF Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the area near Poplar and Alviso Streets in the city of Santa Clara. The Honda was parked and abandoned on the street. The officers set up surveillance in an attempt to arrest the thief. After a period of time the officers abandoned the surveillance and recovered the Honda.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in August 2001 by Metro Honda in Montclair, CA.
