The owners of a 2011 Ford F350 pickup contacted the Colma Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The F350 was a rental that was never returned. After doing their due diligence they deemed the F350 stolen.

The Colma PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford F350.

Less than 10 minutes later and 100 miles away, officers from the Elk Grove Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of Elk Grove Blvd and Emerald Oak Street. The officer conducted a felony stop and took the driver into custody for auto theft without incident.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 in January 2011 by Commercial Sales.
