The owner of a 2008 Yamaha XV1900 contacted the Flint Police Department to report that his motorcycle was stolen overnight from an apartment complex parking lot.

The Flint PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

A short while later a Sergeant from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Sergeant tracked the motorcycle to a residential driveway in Westland.

After setting up surveillance and further investigation the suspect was identified and arrested.  The Yamaha was impounded and later returned to the owner who was very happy he had the Yamaha equipped with a LoJack® System when he purchased it.  The suspect has been charged with Receiving Stolen Property and other felonies by the South East Auto Theft Team (SEATT).

The LoJack® System was installed in the Yamaha XV1900 in November 2007 by North Miami Motorsports in Florida.
