The owner of a 2013 Toyota Highlander contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner’s house was burglarized and the suspects took his car keys and stole his Toyota out of the driveway.

The Dallas PD verified the burglary and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Thirteen minute later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to a grocery store parking lot, where they found it abandoned.  The Toyota was recovered in good condition but the keys were not recovered.  Officers are reviewing surveillance tape from the store parking lot to see if they can identify the suspects.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Highlander in March 2013 by Toyota of Plano in Texas.
