The owners of a 2008 Toyota Corolla contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the 4700 block Mawani Road in the White Marsh area of Baltimore County, Maryland. Investigation conducted by police on the scene found that an extra key to the Toyota was kept inside the vehicle console and most likely used to steal the vehicle.

The Baltimore County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

A short while later detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Corolla with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the 5400 block Whitwood Road in the Hamilton area of Baltimore City. At that location, officers observed the Toyota being operated by the theft suspect. Officers stopped the Toyota and placed the theft suspect under arrest. Officers recovered the undamaged Toyota and notified the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Toyota Corolla in December 2007 by Jerry’s Toyota in Baltimore, Maryland.
