Suzuki Motorcycle Stolen from Apartment Complex, Located Minutes After Theft Report — Suspect Identified

On the afternoon of February 28, 2012, the owner of a Suzuki GSX-R1300 discovered the motorcycle missing from the parking lot of his apartment complex, where he had last seen it when he left for work that morning. He immediately contacted the Cocoa Police Department to report the theft.
Responding officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Suzuki’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to take any further action to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, an officer with the Orlando Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his department vehicle. Following the directional and signal strength indicators on his tracking unit, he determined that the Suzuki was inside a repair shop on Narcossee Road in Orlando. The owner of the shop stated that a male – later determined not to be the owner of the motorcycle – had dropped the bike of for repairs that morning. Police have identified the male suspect and are currently seeking his whereabouts.
The Suzuki motorcycle was recovered with minimal damage and returned to the very happy owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the motorcycle at the owner’s request in July 2007.
