LoJack® System Helps Cleveland Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry

The owners of a Toyota Camry contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence in the early evening.
The Cleveland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.
A short while later officers from the Cleveland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a remote industrial area of Cleveland.
It appeared that the suspect(s) had left it there to “cool off.” The stolen Toyota was impounded and later returned to the owner. This is the second time in six months that it has been stolen, tracked and recovered by law enforcement using LoJack. This case will be further investigated by the Cleveland PD.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in July 2001 by Herb Chambers Toyota in Boston, Massachusetts.
